Where We Place Service Dogs

We are very careful where we place dogs. We believe everyone has the right to own a support dog, or a service dog with public access as ‘required’ as stated in Ontario law.

It is our responsibility to place dogs in homes where they will be well cared for, protected, and their emotional and physical well-being is taken care of, daily.

Public Access

Our dogs are trained to go everywhere, but that doesn’t mean everywhere is good for the dog. We have strict standards for homes where our dogs are placed:

The dog must not go anywhere that can physically damage them, like movie theaters with explosions, repetitious flashing lights, etc.

The dog must not go anywhere the handler will be rendered unable to advocate for their dog, including some parties.

Home Life

The dog must be safe from emotional or physical abuse

The handler must be able to feed and care for the dog, daily.

The dog must be kept on the prescribed diet

The dog must be given heartworm care monthly through the summer, and have bi-yearly vet checks.

We do not place dogs in homes with substance abuse problems.

A Service dog must we with their handler 75% of the time. The handler must be able to care for the dog. If this doesn’t fit your situation then consider a support animal situation.

Our Responsibility To Our Dogs is a major concern. This is a journey, a relationship, that will last the dog’s life. We want it to be a good one that is supportive and nurturing for everyone involved.
